Malaysia

Land of the Malays

Imagine a place where skyscrapers touch the clouds right next to ancient rainforests where orangutans swing freely. Welcome to Malaysia, a country that's diverse in culture, heritage and landscapes!

Although Malaysia is a predominantly Islamic nation, it is home to a diverse mix of cultures including Chinese, Indian and the indigenous tribes of Sabah and Sarawak (Borneo). West Malaysia, home to the capital and ‘mainland’ is a constantly progressing country - proclaimed by its futuristic buildings. It's like the city decided to go big or go home with its mix of modernity, colonial charm, and street food that'll make you want to write home about it!

Then, there's the island of Borneo, shared with Indonesia and Brunei, which is basically nature's playground. Famous for its orangutans and the towering granite peaks of Mount Kinabalu. Sabah and Sarawak, the Malaysian states of Borneo, are like the cool, adventurous siblings of the Malaysian family, offering everything from headhunter heritage to rainforests that are home to pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, and a variety of birds.

And let's not forget about the beaches. The Perhentian Islands are where you go to experience beach life so perfect, it feels like you've stepped into a screensaver. Crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and snorkelling that'll make you wonder why you ever bothered with land.

Whether you choose to visit Borneo for its intriguing wildlife or prefer the urban jungle of Kuala Lumpur, a trip to Malaysia is one for those able to keep up with a faster pace.
